Since Indonesia's independence, Gerson Pandie and Frederik Soru are the latest in a series of convicts condemned to death for premeditated murder. Previous executions included such notorious criminals as Kusni Kasdut, Hengky Tupanwael and Oesin Baffari. Gerson and Frederik faced the firing squad in the Oetum forest in Numbes village near the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) provincial capital of Kupang in the early hours of Saturday two weeks ago.
