Justice and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly is optimistic that the revised Criminal Code (KUHP) Bill will be enacted during President Joko Widodo's term and that the revised version would be an improvement over the previous version, heavily influenced by Dutch colonial laws. "Can you imagine? We are an independent country but we still use the Dutch Penal Code. It's embarrassing," said Yasonna in an interview with Tempo last Thursday.
