The plan to form a special police anti-corruption detachment is looked at as part of an effort to weaken the KPK. The inquiry committee into the KPK from the start planned forming just such a detachment.

National Police Chief Tito Karnavian explained the plan to form a special police detachment to the House of Representative's (DPR) legal commission last week in only 10 minutes. '(The detachment) is not meant to compete with the KPK [Corruption Eradication Commission]. The ¡®forest' of corruption is quite vast. (Let's) split the work," said Tito at the end of his address.
