A Medan businessman was jailed for embezzlement, only to be released a year later by the Supreme Court. Now he wants to sue the judge and prosecutors who sent him to jail.

Karim Tano Tjandra is a lucky man. He is out of jail and a free man again. This may be something of a surprise, as the Supreme Court concluded that the embezzlement he was accused of really had occurred. It also concluded it was a civil matter, not a criminal one. At the very least, Karim has benefited from the gray area between criminal law and civil law.
