It took a long time before the investigation into an alleged pornography case involving Rizieq Syihab came to an end. Throughout the process, ulamas intensively lobbied the government, and National Intelligence Agency and National Police officials approached Rizieq in Saudi Arabia. While the investigation was in fact already halted in October last year, the police managed to cover up that fact for months.
