Bribes for Vote Buying

The Corruption Eradication Commission arrested a member of the House of Representatives, Bowo Sidik Pangarso, in an Rp8-billion bribery case involving shipping fertilizer material and other projects. It is suspected those funds were to finance his re-election campaign as a legislator from the Golkar Party.

Six steel filing cabinets at Inersia Ampak Engineers consulting office on Jalan Salihara No. 12, South Jakarta, were filled with neatly arranged letter envelopes. Some of the sealed envelopes had been stamped with a blue thumbs-up symbol. Most of the envelopes contained money Rp20,000, but some had Rp50,000 inside. A Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) enforcement team confiscated those funds and placed them in 84 cardboard boxes on Thursday,
