Chair of the Golkar faction in the DPR, Melchias Marcus Mekeng, allegedly ordered Eni Saragih to assist coal businessman Samin Tan in lobbying the ministry of energy. Minister Ignasius Jonan’s name is dragged into the fray.

RECEIPT of money totaling Rp5 billion from coal businessman Samin Tan was one of the considerations of the judge when reading out the verdict on suspect Eni Maulani Saragih in early March. In a bribery case involving the Riau-1 Steam Power Plant project, the Golkar Party politician was sentenced to six years imprisonment.
