Suripto is accusing Abdurrahman Wahid of lying. Ginandjar is accusing Chatibul Umam of slander. If found guilty both Wahid and Chatibul will be forced to pay billions of rupiah.

It seems that filing lawsuits against slander is becoming popular amongst former government officials. And those on the receiving end are no small fry. On Monday, June 18, the former secretary-general of the Department of Forestry & Plantations, Suripto, filed a lawsuit with the Central Jakarta District Court against President Abdurrahman Wahid, on charges of slander.
