The Bangka Belitung High Court, citing anti-SLAPP law, acquits six residents of Sungailiat after having been found guilty for demanding their right to live free from air pollution. It is a legal precedent to protect environmental activists.
THREE judges at the Bangka Belitung High Court moved quickly to hand down their verdict on an appeal case for six residents of Sungailiat, Bangka, Bangka Belitung Islands, who had been found guilty for demanding to live free from air polution coming from a tapioca factory. At the end of last April, two weeks after they were named as appeal judges in the case, the three conferred in order to arrange their verdict.
