Massive Espionage Devices Imports around Election Time

Indonesia was one of the biggest importers of electronic wiretapping equipment from 2019-2021. This equipment is being used by various state agencies.

ARRIVING all at once, 19 units of electronic wiretappping equipment reached the Indonesian National Police Logistics Staff office in Jalan Raya Bekasi Timur, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, on July 15, 2021. Everything had been sent by ESW Systems PTE, a Singapore-based company. The value of this equipment imported under Harmonized System (HS) Code 85177099 was listed at US$10.87 million, equivalent to Rp158 billion at the exchange rate at the time.
