Several candidate Supreme Court justices recommended to the DPR by the Supreme Court have already failed their fit-and-proper tests. Should this decision be in the hands of the DPR?

Endeavors to clean up the Supreme Court are both difficult and rare. Proof of this, all 72 of the candidate justices recommended by the Supreme Court secretary-general to the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) comprise professional career judges. These 72 candidates have been recommended to fill 22 openings. Twenty-two of the current 51 justices are scheduled to retire soon. Another, Syafiuddin Kartasasmita, was tragically murdered.
