Generals 'Involved' in Counterfeit Money Scam

The names Gen. Wiranto and Gen. Tyasno have been mentioned in connection with a recent counterfeit money case in Surabaya. Nevertheless, defendant Sumaryono has attempted to conceal the involvement of such important figures behind him.

Cases of counterfeit money are increasingly arousing controversy. At the Central Jakarta District Court, evidence has come forth that several important national figures have been involved in the counterfeit money network. Included among suspects are former minister of defense and security and Indonesian Military (TNI) commander Gen. Wiranto and chief of staff of the Indonesian Land Forces Gen. Tyasno Sudarto.
