A seed-producing company has been found guilty in the first ever dispute over a genetic patent.

ALTHOUGH the court has ruled in its favor, PT East West Seed Indonesia (East West) isn't satisfied. The company, which develops and produces tomato, chili, and eggplant seeds, has asked the agriculture ministry to force its competitor, PT Multi Benih Unggul Indonesia to withdraw all its "copied" products from the market.
