Despite an initial exoneration, prosecutors are having a second try at convicting Riau's former governor of corruption over missing reclamation funds.

Retired senior officials have a new hobby: defending themselves in corruption lawsuits. On July 11, Riau's Pekanbaru District Court began hearings over former Riau Governor Soeripto for the alleged misappropriation of Rp11.1 billion in sand reclamation funds.
It's not his first time in court since retiring. Last year, Soeripto was exonerated from corruption charges over the misappropriation of Rp24 billion in state funds.
