The Central Jakarta District Court has exonerated former Bank Umum Nasional (BUN) owner, Kaharudin Ongko, from corruption charges although Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance Funds were transferred to several of BUN's affiliated companies.

INDONESIA'S judges have become notorious for exonerating wealthy corruption suspects. Judges have been accused of ignoring prosecutor indictments in their endeavour to exonerate corruption suspects. Last Friday, January 10, a Central Jakarta District Court judicial panel chaired by Justice Amaruddin Zakaria exonerated former Bank Umum Nasional (BUN) owner and deputy commissioner, Kaharudin Ongko, of corruption charges.
