The murder of Heriana Syudaha still haunts the village of Blang Peuria in Geudong, North Aceh. Fourteen years ago, a village resident stumbled upon the dead body of a young girl. The body was caught among the roots of a palm tree on the banks of the Blang Peuria River. A nylon cord had been wrapped around the waist—the other end of the cord had been tied to a slab of rock.
The body belonged to Heriana Syuhada, 9, kidnapped on May 16, 1989
