The Regulation and Procedures on Clemency

The Indonesian term for clemency, grasi, was originally taken from the Dutch word, gratie, and also from the Latin, gratia, which means pardon or release. The meaning of the word in general: the abolition of punishment (granted by the head of state), or a pardon. Gratie verzoek means a request for pardon.
Article 14 of the 1945 Constitution states that the president may grant clemency, amnesty, abolition, and rehabilitation.
