Former Pertamina operations director, Tabrani Ismail, has been arrested for involvement in the Balongan scandal. But former Mines & Energy Minister, Ginandjar Kartasasmita, has escaped arrest.

TABRANI Ismail has an uncertain future. Two weeks ago, 70-year-old Ismail was arrested and placed under detention by the JakartaPublic Prosecutors Office for his involvement in the Balongan oil refinery project price hike. TEMPO reporters met with Ismail at his cell in Salemba Prison in Jakarta, last week.

Ismail has been accused of abusing his position of authority by hiking the construction cost of the Balongan export-oriented (Exor I) oil
