IN May 2002, Central Kalimantan Police halted a 2-kilometer procession of logs floating down the Barito River in Central Kalimantan. The convoy of hundreds of men, women and children were riding atop the floating logs, guiding them downstream towards the South Barito border. Police stopped the convoy close to the border and seized the logs.
