DISPUTES concerning 200 hectares of land located in the Lembang district of Bandung trace back to an Italian immigrant living in Lembang in the 1930s. In 2001, the Bandung District Court ordered that 200 hectares of disputed land be handed over to Elang Gumbira. However, this decision has met with strong protest from local residents who claim to posses valid land certificates over this land.
