NGOs are noisily making their opinions known that the draft Law on Foundations is actually a step backwards. Why? It enforces state control over matters that should rightly be self-determined by the people.

UNLIKE during the New Order era, the House of Representatives (DPR to you) should no longer be just a rubber-stamp institution, pumping out laws willy-nilly. The government should also refrain from drafting laws on matters that are essentially the concern of the people.
