LAST Tuesday, the South Jakarta District Court handed down a surprising verdict: upholding the majority of charges made by Indonesian tycoon Tomy Winata against Koran Tempo daily. To the dismay of courtroom attendees, presiding judicial panel chair, Zoeber Djajadi, held that Koran Tempo had broken the law on charges of slander and character defamation. Assisting Djajadi on the judicial panel were Justice Syamsul Ali and Justice I Wayan Rena.
