I have never heard of a developed country banning MSG, as was quoted in TEMPO (January 22, 2001 edition). So, could you please name which country prohibits the use of MSG?
The Indonesian Council of Ulemas (MUI) decided in its fatwa (ruling) that Ajinomoto MSG is forbidden due to the use of bactosoytone, which was produced—by its manufacturer Difco Laboratories in the US—using an enzyme extracted from pigs.
