PRESIDENT Joko Widodo plans to relocate the administrative capital to a city outside Jakarta. A good idea, albeit a late one. Jakarta is already too crowded. We need a new, fresh city with a vast area to develop.

Tempo quoted the National Development Planning Agency that Kalimantan has the highest score among other islands. Even the president had visited Palangka Raya in Central Kalimantan. Since Sukarno’s era, the city had been chosen to be the new capital. It’s just that the idea has remained just that—an idea.
