As a resource of knowledge, encyclopedias surprisingly contain some disturbing errors. Here are some errors I found in encyclopedias regarding Indonesia.

  1. In Grolier Children's Encyclopedia (published by Grolier Incorporated Dunbury, 1997): Indonesia fought for and won independence in 1949 (Book V p365). Indonesia won independence in 1945. The same error is also found in The Kingfisher Children's Encyclopedia, published by Trade Spools Ltd. Frome
