THE Handsome Sos, Raden Mas Panji Sosrokartono was thus called while living in Europe for 29 years. He was also dubbed the Prince from Java.
Sosrokartonos mastery of languages and skill in mingling with people was the main factor causing strangers to easily befriend him. Dutch artist Van Eeden in his diary on May 4, 1915 wrote about his admiration of Sosrokartono.
He was a congenial, highly educated Javanese. He was not reserved or taciturn at all.
