The evening call to prayer was just beginning to ring out last Wednesday when the Karawang Legislative Council building went up in flames. It took only three hours for the blaze to level the building that was built in 1974. Was the fire due to a short circuit? Apparently not. Chief of the West Java Police Insp. Gen. Yun Mulyana suspected the inferno was connected to the recent election of a regent.
