THE tragedy occurred when a young pop group came to Jakarta March 18. More than a thousand fans crammed themselves into a music shop in West Jakarta’s Taman Anggrek Mal—in far greater numbers than it could hold in. Four teenagers were crushed to death in the hysteria. They died for something we find hard to understand. But sadly, it happened.
