Articles in the newly enacted Electronic Transactions and Information Law are seen as threats to press freedom. The Press Council was never consulted.

THE information shocked Press Council chief, Ichlasul Amal. Not long after the House of Representatives (DPR) enacted the Electronic Transactions and Information Law two weeks ago, a message was sent to his cellphone. It said that some articles in the new law could ‘send’ journalists to jail.
