TEUKU Hasan Muhammad di Tiro, 83, may be too old to resolve this matter: three years after the Helsinki peace treaty was signed, violence in Aceh has not fully disappeared. Former combatants of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM), an organization that Tiro used to lead, are involved in several kidnappings. On Saturday two weeks ago, after nearly 30 years living in Stockholm, Sweden, Tiro returned home.
