THE weekly religious lecture led by Ustadz Abu Jibril at Al-Munawwarah Mosque at Pamulang in Tangerang, a small town just outside Jakarta, normally lasted for two hours. That Wednesday morning the lecture, attended mostly by women dressed in black, some covering their faces with chador, was cut short to just one hour.
