As of the end of last week, President Yudhoyono had not yet submitted the name of his candidate for National Police Chief to the House of Representatives. It is suspected that the recommendation of the National Commission on Human Rights will get in the way. Loyalty is the key to being chosen.

ALL last week, 11 members of the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) had an additional duty. They held a special meeting in which they went through old documents. One by one, they reread investigative reports on cases of human rights violations, news clippings, and old complaint files covered in dust.
