People were mobilized to take part in a demonstration to support the confirmation of the sultan as governor of Yogyakarta. The competing parties even reached to the campus of Gadjah Mada University.

BANNERS and posters were hung along Jalan Malioboro, which runs through the heart of the city of Yogyakarta. One clearly read: ‘Those Not in Favor of the Confirmation Get Lost!’ A stage was set up right across from the front porch of the regional legislative council building. There was a large yellow sign which read ‘The People of Yogyakarta Support Confirmation 100 Percent’.
