When Desperation Runs Riot

In the kitchen block of Cipinang Prison the inmate had placed the hose into the vast dirty drum. Below the drum a big stove was on. The inmate sat close by. When the drum was finally full, he reached out and turned off the water. Apparently, he was cooking rice.
The rice was the prisoners' daily fare, that and the main course: salty, flavored cabbage and a piece of salted fish or soybean cake (tempe). Twice a week there is a piece of beef. "B
