Bima Torched

One hundred policemen on guard could not do much to deter thousands of demonstrators heading for the Bima regent's office in West Nusa Tenggara, last Thursday. Muhammad Syafi'i, a witness, said that the mob damaged the fence quickly and forced their way into the office yard. "The police were not able to hold them back," he recounted to Tempo.
