Sjamsul Nursalim, the former boss of Bank Dagang Nasional Indonesia (BDNI), has been arrested by the Attorney General's Office. The move has increased suspicion that President Abdurrahman Wahid is no longer backing him.

Last week, Sjamsul Nursalim, a suspect in the embezzlement of Bank Indonesia liquidation assistance funds, checked into Medistra Hospital in Jakarta to receive treatment for constricted arteries.
