Surveys are not the most reliable way to gauge a candidate's popularity. Politicians manipulate ratings as a matter of practice because they think favorable ones will help them win.

Politicians do many things to boost their image in the eyes of voters. One of the most common tactics is to release surveys about how popular they are, as is widely being done these days leading up to the general elections on April 9.
