WHERE will you go, Yanuar Nugroho? The 42-year-old who until last month was expert assistant to Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, then the chief of the Presidential Working Unit for Development Monitoring and Control (UKP4), could not say for certain. He did have some ideas: maybe he would teach at a universityperhaps his alma mater, the Bandung Institute of Technologyor settle in New York to work for the United Nations. "In the meantime, I want to be with my family first," he said.
Two years ago, Yanuar's life changed dramatically when he left his career as a researcher and lecturer at the Manchester Business School in the United Kingdom to accept Kuntoro's offer to join the UKP4. At the time, Kuntoro needed a planning expert to strengthen his team. "I saw that competence in Yanuar," Kuntoro said last week.
