SULTAN Hamengku Buwono X has not been swayed by concerns over his supposedly controversial royal pronouncement. He has all but ignored the backlash it has created among certain groups. "Let all those who don't agree sound off all they want," the ruler of the Yogyakarta court said last Wednesday.

He expressed the sentiment the day after making a formal declaration that his first-born daughter, Pembayun, would be given a new name and title: Gusti Kan
