A Ray of Hope

Tuesday, October 13, 2015

ATTorney General H.M. Prasetyo confirmed that he had prepared three options for KPK deputy chief Bambang Widjojanto's case: The first is to take the case to trial; the second is to have the prosecutors study the case, to see if it meets all the requirements to continue. "The third option is for me, as attorney general, to drop the charges," he said last Tuesday.

Bambang was arrested by police on January 23 and later named a suspect of perjury for persuading witnesses to give false testimony in the 2010 West Kotawaringin regency election dispute trial held at the Constitutional Court in Jakarta. His arrest was suspected to be a retaliation for the Corruption Eradication Commission's (KPK) naming of Gen. Budi Gunawan as a graft suspect.
