SUNNY Tanuwidjaja was unable to conceal his agony last Wednesday as he read a text message on his phone. The aide to Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama was alerted he had been banned from traveling abroad at the request of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
The former researcher at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) flung himself into a chair at the Sate Senayan Restaurant in Cideng, Jakarta, where he was eating. "I feel weak, I'm banned from traveling. I will not sleep well," he told Tempo in a meeting the same day. The travel ban was officially announced by the KPK the next day.
