Tired of all the political rows between the House of Representatives (DPR) and President Abdurrahman Wahid, the population happily welcomed Megawati Sukarnoputri, who was inaugurated as Indonesia's fifth president. The nation's optimism, almost gone with the protracted crisis, was promptly revived.
