Suryo Tan:
The charges are all made-up

Tuesday, December 27, 2016

DARREN Chen Jia Fu a.k.a. Suryo Tan has been reported to the police at least nine times. Some of the reports accuse him of committing fraud. But the 54-year-old Suryo seems untouchable. According to rumors, he has close ties with a high-ranking police officer. "The people who report me (to the police) are the ones who usually end up in jail," he said.

A while ago, his colleagues at Pradiksi Gunatama and Senabangun Anekapertiwi reported him to the police for alleged fraud and embezzlement. During police investigations, witnesses said Suryo had paid off two high-ranking policemen, Budi Gunawan and Anas Yusuf. Two weeks ago, Suryo spoke to Tempo's Anton Aprianto about the case by telephone.
