The KPK failed to arrest Setya Novanto at his home. It is suspected he knew of his impending arrest a few hours ahead of time. He is now in custody after ending up in hospital when the car he was riding crashed into a lamp post. Bribes in the electronic ID card project may have flowed to his family.

UNTIL the evening on Wednesday last week, Setya Novanto did not arrive at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) building. That day investigators planned to question the House of Representatives (DPR) speaker as a suspect in corruption surrounding the electronic ID card or e-KTP project.
