Data recording for the e-KTP has been chaotic. Problems from corruption to unreliable data network have caused many to feel unsure whether or not they will receive their life long e-KTP card.

AMI, aged 25 years, has gone back and forth three times to register for her identity card at the Aren Jaya village office in East Bekasi, West Java. All her efforts have failed. Every time the electronic identity card (e-KTP) was to be printed, the officer told her that her name was not recorded in the population data server at the Home Affairs Ministry.
