The Education Ministry canceled the result of the UNS rector election. This act is seen as a state intervention against campus autonomy.

THE room of Sebelas Maret University’s Board of Trustees (MWA UNS), Surakarta, Central Java, was all dark that Thursday morning, April 6. Two days before, the room, located on the first floor of Dr. Prakosa UNS Rectorate building, was locked shut after the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry suspended MWA UNS at the end of March. It was the subsequent aftermath of the UNS rector election.
