DESPITE some reactions, the Indonesian Navy has decided to go ahead with its plan to buy four corvettes from the Netherlands. Last month, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Dorodjatun Kuntjoro-Jakti, suggested that the navy reconsider the plan. His suggestion, however, was received cynically.
"If the minister thinks that our plan should be reconsidered, then let him do it," reacted Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff, Admiral
