Luthfi Hasan Sentenced to 16 Years

A panel of judges at the Corruption Court has sentenced Luthfi Hasan Ishaaq to 16 years in prison and a fine of Rp1 billion. The former president of the Justice and Prosperity Party (PKS) was found guilty of taking bribes to manipulate a beef import quota scheme at the Ministry of Agriculture. He was also shown to have laundered money, resulting in a number of his assets being seized by the state.
