Luhut Asks for a Stop to Sinking of Vessels

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan is asking for a policy initiated by Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti to sink seized vessels involved in illegal fishing not to be continued. "It should be evaluated so we can continue to keep our fishing industry going," Luhut commented last week.

He says any vessels proven to be involved in illegal fishing should instead be given to Indonesian fishermen
