Law Faculty Dean of Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Sigit Riyanto, believes that democracy in Indonesia has gone backwards to the authoritarian era. Moreover, state authorities are allegedly involved in exercising repression. Pressure also comes from pro-government ‘buzzers’—or social media influencers.
